Senior cars for senior citizens
Thanks to the organizing efforts of Bob G the residents of Pioneer Ridge Long-term Care facility were treated to some old cars and, for some, new experiences.
Carburetor Workshop
A carburetor walked into a bar…
It hops up on a stool, says “Gimme a beer and a shot of whiskey!”, and proceeds to put a shaft, a lever, a plate, and a bimetallic spring on the bar. The bartender says, “What is this? Some kind of choke?”
Well it was no joke for the TBVSCC members in attendance at the Burton’s garage (at least for those who weren’t on a low carb diet) who left with either clean carbs or an appreciation for these mechanical marvels.
Special thanks go to our host and hostesses for providing the facilities and amazing chocolate muffins and, of course, the club’s two carbmeisters (pictured below). When polled, there was an even split as to what was the best part of the afternoon…
By the way, if today’s event just so happened to remind you of the Pogue carb, you can find out if it was fact or fiction here.
Ice Cream Drives
Thursday, June 5: Hiway 61 Revisited — no report
Thursday, June 19th: no report
July 4th, 2025: The Dawson Trail
It was PJ to the rescue as it seemed likely that there would not be such a run after all. Not only that but he provided his home as a starting point. So, too, kudos are in order for the only one who took pictures. What would the club do without him?!
July 17th mini car show at Pioneer Ridge senior home: Seniors were very happy to see cars that were as old or older than they are.
July 31st Show ‘n’ Ice Cream at Southbridge Retirement Home: once again, seniors were happy to see cars that were as old or older than them.
